If you know anything about space-fairing bounty hunters then it should come as no surprise that they don’t like to be paid in empirial credits. They function in a parallel economy with a currency they can trust, when no one else can be.
This is your definitive resource for the $WEI token. Providing everything you need to know to earn, collect, use, and eventually trade your bounty rewards. Do not trust any other links on the topic unless they are provided here. So, let’s get into it.
What is the $WEI token?
$WEI is a bounty rewards token for subscribers and contributors of The Wei blog and newsletter. A project of D¢ENT Ventures. This is an experiment in incentivized engagement with web3 content, where various tasks, activities and challenges, aka “Bounties” are rewarded with regularly issued token airdrops.
The token will be deployed on the Arbitrum L2 network in January 2024. But you can begin earning your first airdrop immediately! All the details are below.

Redemption & Issuance
Bounty rewards will be issued to subscribed contributors in a bulk airdrop at the end of each month, starting January 31, 2024.
Instructions to ensure that your earnings and wallet address have been properly recorded will be provided when you complete your bounty.
$WEI tokens will only be added to circulation via rewards until the circulating supply reaches 10% of the total supply, and will be non-tradeable at the contract level. Meaning, the token will be prohibited from trading on DEXs. Once 10% of the supply (100M tokens) has been issued as rewards we will call the contract function to unlock trading.
Prior to this unlocking event, we will propose multiple options to create the ideal trading environment. $WEI holders will be able to vote on the strategy they prefer. This may include determining which DEX to establish LP on, which token pair(s) to create, how much to seed the LP with, and so on.
Utility
You may be thinking, “If we can’t yet trade it, what can we do with it?” Plenty! The token has been designed as an intra-project asset that can be spent or stacked, depending on your strategy.
Spending $WEI
Designated Shilling Zones are sections in the newsletter where you can shout out just about anything you want. A plug for your project. A colorful complaint. Or birthday wishes to your cat. This feature will be available after the bounty rewards airdrops begin.
Don’t want to pay for a legit sponsored segment or feature post in fiat? Earn it instead. Then give it right back to us so we may do the honors of giving your project the VIP treatment.
Thread up! You will be able to use your $WEI to purchase The Wei merch, such as shirts, hats, hoodies, mug. You know, the standard swag. We may even throw in some face-melting once-of-a-kind surprise items.
Stacking $WEI
Climb the leaderboard and achieve custom roles in our Discord server. Each holdings tier comes along with exclusive priveleges such as higher priority content bounty submissions, unlocking exclusive bounty missions, and whatever other fun stuff we come up with.
Vote. On occassion we will turn to our subscribers to help make critical decisions about the future of The Wei. In these times you will be able to vote with your tokens. The more you hold, the more impactful your vote.

How to Earn $WEI
To begin earning $WEI, first you must be a subscriber to our newsletter. Joining is free and you can unsubscribe at any time. Your email and personal information will never be sold to or shared with any third parties. Click the button below to become eligible to earn.
Once subscribed, there are currently 5 ways to earn:
1. Refer New Subscribers
At the end of each article and newsletter you will see the Referral Module. This is where you will find your unique referral link that you can share far and wide. It also shows you your current number of successful referrals and how close you are to your next $WEI Bounty Reward.
Currently, we are offering rewards at two milestones. When you refer 10 subscribers you will earn 1,000 $WEI. Bring in 25 subs and earn 3,000 $WEI. New milestones will be added regularly to the referral bounty program.

2. Contribute to Content Bounties
Various content segments in the newsletter are open to content bounties from subscribers. Just look for the Bounty box to know what to can contribute and what you may earn. Follow the instructions and then keep an eye out in future newsletters to see if yours was featured. Each bounty hunter who makes the cut will be credited next to their contribution.
Every so often we will include a special challenge in the newsletter or directly from our X account. You’ll know them when you see them. This will generally be a task associated with boosting content or building social engagement. The reward and terms will be included with said bounties, so you know exactly what to do and what’s in it for you.
4. Write Guest Posts
Writing quality content is hard work. We only have two writers on staff, but we don’t want that to stop us from pumping out lots of valuable content. So consider this your invitation to become a guest writer for The Wei!

Guest Post Bounty Rewards will vary based on the length and detail of the article. The more authoritative, researched, cited, and pre-SEO-optimized the greater the rewards.
Rewards will range from 10,000 to 50,000 $WEI.

5. Become an Elite Hunter
Join The Wei’s special forces unit, hell-bent on building our publication into an industry juggernaut. This program is not for everyone. Only those who meet our standards and are willing to commit to the program for 1 year should apply.
For those who make the cut, you will receive 1,000,000 $WEI, vesting monthly over 12 months. That’s an airdrop of 83,333.33 $WEI every month for a year… On top of what can be earned through the referral system.

Must be a web3-focused influencer.
Must be able to join our Discord server for regular communications.
What’s Involved?
Elite Hunters are required to:
Share or repost at least one content piece from The Wei every week. This includes original articles and weekly newsletters.
Host or co-host at least 3 X Spaces with us per year.

FAQs
Why is it on Arbitrum?
We selected this Layer 2 chain because it has the highest trading volume under Ethereum and the 4th highest TVL. Additionally, it benefits from much faster transactions and lower fees. And, as one of the newer L2s on the block, we thought it would be a good opportunity to discover and share everything this netwrk has to offer.
Why will $WEI trading initially be paused?
Since the token is a means to incentivize and reward our subscribers we wanted to ensure that only those who are in it for the initial token utility and long term success of the project are rewarded. If trading were open from the beginning we beleive we would get a lot of low quality subscribers just looking to token farm and flip their earning immediately.
What will the token be worth?
Initially… Nothing. Or, to be more accurate, it will be worth the value of the utility it provides. While it will not be tradeable on DEXs we cannot prevent people from peer-to-peer or OTC trading the token. But we will not facilitate this activity.
Once the conditions are met to activate trading, the price will be established either by community vote according to the LP ratio, or entirely by market forces. Either way, your earnings will eventually be worth something. We suspect, the more successful we collectively make The Wei, the more valuable it will be.
How long will it take to unlock trading?
There is no way of saying. Reaching 10% circulating supply through nothing more than reward airdrops could take a while. At all depends on how much traction our little publication gets, and how many people buy in to our mission by sharing/referring, contributing and partnering. Could be be months. Could be years. Could be never.
